8:00 p.m. – Previously on Drag Race, Gia Gunn was chosen by the “lip sync for your legacy winner” Manila Luzon despite Manila’s suggestion earlier in the episode that it might be a better decision to eliminate Valentina, a bigger threat to snatch the crown, while she had the chance. Manila was even confident enough to tell Valentina that she was considering it as an option to which Valentina accepted the challenge, refusing to concede to Manila’s attempt at deal-making. In what new ways will the queens be competitive with each other tonight? Let’s find out!

8:02 p.m. – Following Gia’s elimination the girls contemplated what place the competition was playing in her personal life and whether or attitude toward the other girls was a reflection of that. Later, Valentina brought up what Manila had said to her earlier in the night, telling the other girls that her philosophy for the season is to beat the best in order to be the best. Privately, Manila maintained that she should consider the option of sending a strong girl home in the future.

8:06 p.m. – For this week’s maxi challenge, RuPaul Charles presented “Jersey Justice,” a courtroom drama that the queens would appear on as New Jersey litigants arguing cases in front of Michelle Visage. Ru paired the queens off in pairs and a trio: Latrice, Monet X Change and Monique Heart arguing a case about cakes, Manila and Naomi Smalls about a botched makeover and Valenta and Trinity the Tuck about stolen identity.

8:10 p.m. – In rehearsal, Latrice experienced deja vu when she was annoyed by Gia on the set of “Snatch Game” last week after witnessing Monet and Monique competing with one another in an over-the-top and step-on-toes kind of way. Elsewhere, the pairs of Manila/Naomi and Trinity/Valentina were advancing more swimmingly in their attempts to find a healthy comedic groove between them. That being said, Valentina was concerned with her ability to pull off the improv access of the challenge.

8:17 p.m. – In the first case, Manila nailed the star quality comedy while Naomi had impeccably crafted a character and look straight out of Jersey–Naomi’s raspy Big Ang voice and bronze-heavy makeup had me in stitches. The studio audience seemed enamored by both queens, laughing at all of their set pieces.

8:23 p.m. – Monique opened the second case with a scene-stealing introduction, leaving Latrice with a ton to live up to. Unfortunately Latrice suffered the same fate that she did last week, resorting to her own personality rather than remaining in character. Once Monet entered it became clear that Latrice was the weak link in the trio and that there was just no chance for her to keep up with improv-assault of Monique and Monet’s chemistry. Overall, the scene was overwrought and confusing despite some great characterizations and slapstick physical comedy.

8:33 p.m. – In the final case, Trinity started it off rough, but Valentina’s entrance was a complete scream–her looks was the perfect kind of hot mess that took Trinity’s boring opening into the camp realness situation their performance needed to be. Trinity, however, closed much better at the point she engaged Valentina in a chokehold that left the audience roaring.

8:43 p.m. – The next day in the workroom, Manila was caught off guard by Latrice’s confidence in their group’s performance. But, like, it was clearly the weakest of the three. Valentina, however, was rightfully confident about her own performance, but caught Trinity off guard when she morphed into Villaintina and admitted that she’d send Trinity home over Latrice if they were in the bottom together.

8:52 p.m. – Joining Ru and Michelle on this week’s judges’ panel was Carson Kressley, Zoe Kravitz and Erica Ash. Before doling out critiques, they watched the queens parade in a “swerves and curves, padded for the gods” runway. Both Monet and Monique showed off super-exaggerated looks with high shoulders (Monique) and a Kardashian-inspired backside (Monet). Latrice and Trinity played the padding safe, given their natural body types, while Manila, Naomi and Valentina all went a big more fashion-focused.

8:59 p.m. – In critiques, Manila surprised the judges by being fully committed in both the improv challenge and on the runway. Naomi also impressed on the runway, but Michelle felt she didn’t rise to Manila’s level during the challenge. Erica told Trinity her outfit was her favorite of the whole group, but the consensus was that she “stalled” during the challenge. Her partner Valentina was divisive in her runway look and unanimously praised for her improv work. Of the queens in the trio, the judges loved Monique’s over the top runway and think she was the standout in their courtroom scene. Latrice and Monet were fine on the runway, but the complaints on their challenge performances were plenty.

9:05 p.m. – Based on those critiques, Ru named Monique and Manila as the top two of the week, setting them to perform against one another in the “lip sync for your legacy” to determine whether it would be Latrice or Monet that would be eliminated.

9:10 p.m. – Emotions were high backstage with Monique conflicted between the possibility of having to send one of her teammates home and everyone (except maybe Trinity) upset about the prospect of it being Latrice’s time to go. Monet pleaded to Monique that she be saved, but Monique pointed out that although Latrice hasn’t exactly “shined” she hasn’t been as inconsistent as Monet. As longtime friends, Manila told Latrice that she would perform her butt off to save her.

9:22 p.m. – In their lip sync to Tina Turner‘s rendition of Elton John‘s “The Bitch Is Back,” both Manila and Monique donned their best Tina wigs and shimmied across the stage just as she would. Monique gave the more energetic performance overall, injecting passion for performing, while Manila relied more on comedy which, honestly, felt a bit off when compared to Monique’s star turn.

9:25 p.m. – In the end, Ru agreed that Monique earned the lip sync win, a first for the queen in either of her seasons. After debating between her idol (Latrice) and her friend (Monet), Monique  decided to chop Latrice from the competition, giving Monet a second chance to redeem herself.
