We often spend time discussing who should have won the Oscar. However, I was wondering who other users foresee as an Academy Award champion in the future, based off of consistency and due accolade presentation. How do you think said performer will be able to earn their golden statue?

My best pick is Jake Gyllenhaal. He is consistently sidelined in Oscar’s race as the 6th stringer. I see him getting several more noms and winning later in his career.

All I think correct above. I also see Gyllenhaal getting a career Oscar eventually.

Also Glenn Close ASAP (maybe next year) and Jessica Chastain

Crossing my fingers that Michelle Pfeiffer and Sigourney Weaver get some opportunities as well.

Does Sigourney Weaver even do movies anymore, though?

    From most to least likely:

    Saoirse Ronan
    Amy Adams
    Rooney Mara
    Michelle Williams
    Jessica Chastain
    Glenn Close
    Annette Bening
    Carey Mulligan
    Taraji P Henson
    Isabelle Huppert
    Laura Dern
    Keira Knightley
    Helena Bonham Carter
    Sigourney Weaver

Ronan and Mara are two of the top talents of their generation and will certainly be awarded someday.

Adams, Williams, Chastain, Mulligan, Dern, Knightley, and Carter all seem like they would probably win for supporting roles (and I’m doubtful that the last three will ever win at all). Adams and Chastain could possibly pull off lead wins, but I’m less sure that Williams or Mulligan could do so.

Close and Bening should be able to win with the right role and an “overdue” narrative, but I don’t think the same can be said for Weaver.

I’m not sure where Henson fits into the equation.

As for Huppert, I think that ship has probably sailed.

Does Sigourney Weaver even do movies anymore, though?

The only upcoming film projects listed on her imdb are the Avatar sequels.

It would certainly be appropriate for her to win for a sci-fi film, but I can’t see the Academy going for it.

God I love Sigourney Weaver so much.  Obviously, if you look at my name.

    Roger Deakins

If Kevin O´Connell, who did it last year and Ennio Morricone who got it some years ago, i really hope he will eventually get one soon.

Glenn Close definitely fits into the long overdue category, so her.

Tom Hardy, who’s getting more and more good roles and who has been fairly consistent will at some point be given a supporting role again in a big movie, where he will win.

OP doesn’t specify it can be someone who has won already, so my vote also goes to Tom Hanks. I think at some point later in his career, perhaps when he’s 70+ they will give him his 3rd for a strong performance in a movie helmed by one of the greats, possibly another Spielberg, as a way to honour him. Or they give him an Honorary one, one of the two.

I also think Chastain will get a few nominations more, perhaps around 5 before the Academy also honours her as a long overdue winner.

Director: Tarantino when he reaches 10 or when his Manson Family thing takes off. Possibly also David Fincher.

Cinematography: Deakins, hopefully this year. Talk about overdue.

Lastly, Idris Elba at some point. He has been quite consistent playing supporting parts in Oscar movies and will get the big prize in the next 10 years I think.
