I had a quick look and I don’t think anyone’s started this yet (or that anyone’s interested) but does anyone have any predictions for the upcoming Olivier Awards? I’m predicting Company to get nominated a lot.

I already started a thread about the Olivier Awards back in the fall. You’re welcome to post your predictions there. http://discreetwhispers.com/forum/theater/2019-olivier-awards-official-thread/

I suppose I could start things off with some rough Musical category predictions. It seems quite light on male performances this year. My predictions are not listed in any order

    Musical:

    1. 9 to 5

    2. Waitress

    3. Six

    4. Come From Away

    Revival:

    1. Company

    2. Caroline, Or Change

    ??

    Actress:

    1. Rosalie Craig – Company

    2. Adrienne Warren – Tina

    3. Sharon D. Clarke – Caroline, Or Change

    4. Katharine McPhee – Waitress

    Actor:

    1. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith – Tina

    2. Jamie Muscato – Heathers

    4. ??

    3. ??

    Supporting Actress:

    1. Rachel Tucker – Come From Away

    2. Patti LuPone – Company

    3. Abiona Omonua – Caroline, Or Change

    4. I’d love a Queen from Six but I doubt it, maybe a Heather?

    Supporting Actor:

    1. Jack McBrayer – Waitress

    2. Richard Fleeshman – Company

    3. Jonathan Bailey – Company

    4. ??

I think Come From Away will probably have a better shot than Waitress. While we don’t know how either show will be received in London yet, Come From Away got a much stronger response here in the United States. While Waitress did get some good reviews, it also has its share of detractors.

I saw Come From Away in London recently. I wonder if there’s a chance Jenna Boyd and Jonathan Andrew Hume could nab nominations in the supporting categories? Maybe Rachel Tucker will go lead.
